Upcoming Events for New Mexico Women in Film


MWIF & IATSE LOCAL 480 FILM PREMIERE – APRIL 26TH:

New Mexico Women in Film and IATSE Local 480 proudly present the New Mexico premier of a made-in-New Mexico Film:

"NOT FORGOTTEN" Directed by Dror Soref

WHEN: Sunday, April 26, at 6pm.

WHERE: The Film Museum, (formerly the Jean Cocteau) 418 Montezuma Ave. Santa Fe

There will be a Q&A after the screening with Director Dror Soref, followed by a cash bar Reception at The Cowgirl Hall of Fame, 319 S Guadalupe St., Santa Fe.

COST: “Not Forgotten” Crew & New Mexico Women in Film Members are admitted free;
Guest admission is $10.00

Cost of admission is tax deductible, with proceeds to benefit the NMWIF Public Service Announcement Project Fund, which will allow us to produce a PSA for another NM non-profit. Past NMWIF PSA recipients include the Santa Fe Rape Crisis & Trauma Treatment Center.

NMWIF 1st ANNUAL ATHENA AWARDS CEREMONY – May 17th:

The 1st Annual Athena Awards for Excellence in Screenwriting, sponsored by New Mexico Women in Film and the NMWIF Writers' Group, will be presented on Sunday, May 17th at 6PM at the James A. Little Theatre at the New Mexico School for the Deaf in Santa Fe.

The finalists in the short screenwriting competition will be judged blindly by a panel of top industry professionals, including Emmy Award-winning writer Kirk Ellis, writer/producer for “John Adams”, and writing team Noni White and Robert (Bob) Tzudiker, who have been judges for the Emmy’s and the Oscars. The top 3 winning pieces will be read by professional actors.

The event is free and open to the public. There will be a Reception following the ceremony (no alcohol). Dress is black-tie optional.

NMWIF SCREENING & FUNDRAISER: “BLACK & WHITE NIGHTS” WITH SPECIAL GUEST BARBARA ORBISON – MAY 23RD :

Enjoy a very special evening when NMWIF hosts a screening of Barbara Orbison’s film “Black & White Nights”, the fabulous musical documentary about her husband, Roy Orbison, followed by an on-stage interview with Barbara. Don’t miss the chance to see this rock ‘n roll legend singing with his many famous musician friends, on the big screen at the Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe. There will be exciting door prizes, the newest compilation CD of Roy’s greatest hits, and much more! Support NMWIF’s PSA Fund and help us help our community. Mark your calendar for May 23rd!
